Reflections on Labor Day 2020 by Brian CalifanoAs we come to the “unofficial” end of summer 2020, this Labor Day holiday resonates with us more than any other Labor Day that we can recall. This year we have been forced to think about, and reflect upon, what an honor and privilege it is to work and earn a living in the United States. Many of my fellow small/medium size business owners have felt extreme cashflow pressure; yet, we feel that the momentum is starting to change. As the leaves start to turn, we know that business owners will continue to fight for survival, protect their customers, and maintain the cashflow of their business by utilizing new and creative solutions.

We’ve all heard this phrase: we are living in an unprecedented era. Our norms have been challenged and our lives changed, but we know one thing that has remained constant — the guts and grit of the entrepreneur. It’s in our DNA to withstand extreme pressure and still find ways to add value for customers. Entrepreneurs are a rare breed — creative, positive, nimble, mentally disciplined and emotionally intelligent.

AcceleratingCFO began because we wanted to help small businesses reach their fullest potential and facilitate job growth in the United States. Historically, it has always been the SMB community that has generated the largest job growth in this country. We have witnessed several instances of business owners who have sacrificed their personal savings and wealth in order to maintain consistent employment levels and unchanged business operations for their employees and customers.

It is this spirit of unselfishness and sacrifice that makes us proud of the people we associate with and inspires us to provide the highest level of service to our clients. We know these days are difficult; but we also just as strongly believe that, like the phoenix, we will emerge renewed and soar to even greater heights.

So on this Labor Day, we encourage everyone to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of this country and the positive outlook that we need to maintain as business leaders and owners. Let us join together on this day and pray for physical, mental and spiritual healing that will propel us past these difficult times and fortify a nation which has always been, “a shining city upon whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere.”

Takeaway: We’re in it together. Recharge and reinvigorate your strive for excellence. Let’s tackle the fourth quarter and gain some momentum into 2021!
