Top 10 Things to Live for in 2024 by Brian CalifanoAs we approach our ten year anniversary, we have learned a lot about entrepreneurs, small business owners, and what it takes to successfully run a business. David Letterman, the well-known late night host, used to have a segment on his show called The Top 10 List. Since he left in 2015, we think it’s time to bring that back and provide AcceleratingCFO’s Top 10 Lists of things we have noted over the past ten years. The next series of posts will be a tribute to both our clients and colleagues as well as an acknowledgment of our ten year anniversary in February 2024.

#10 – Doing Our Best: Regardless of occupation or level of salary, we contribute to society in both large and small ways. It is important to spend every morning routinely devoting ourselves to our craft and ensuring that we give 100% to our clients and/or those that rely on our expertise.

# 9 – Creating a Legacy: We all want to leave a mark on this world — and having a business to pass on to family or friends is one way to do so. Logically we know we are not going to live forever; but we strive to leave this realm in a better state than we found it. There is meaning to leaving a part of you — your company — behind after you leave this world so that your memory will be carried on.

#8 – Trying Something New: The new year is always a time where we set up the desire to start something new or do something that we haven’t done before. Focusing our energies on something that we haven’t done previously, yet always wanted to do, will give you newfound energy and focus.

#7 – Feeling Proud: It’s awesome to be great at what you do – no matter what it is. Make sure, in 2024, that you are doing everything you can, both financially and emotionally, to bring your best YOU to your business and personal affairs.

# 6 – Fulfilling a Passion: Close your eyes and think about that thing that just lights you up inside. It’s time to pursue that hobby or livelihood that speaks to your soul. “Jump and the net will appear!”

#5 – Proving People Wrong: There Is no greater motivation for me than being told I can’t do something. Then I do it — and excel at it. Whether it’s your third grade teacher or your next door neighbor, let your biggest success this year be the one or two things that no one had faith that you could do but YOU

#4 – Supporting Our Clients: Our clients trust us to put our natural talents to work. We are grateful to them because we can spend our days doing what we love and share our talents with people that value and benefit from them.

#3 – Chasing Dreams: According to Henry David Thoreau, “The mass of men lead lives in quiet desperation.” Let’s vow in 2024 to stop being frustrated and start pointing towards our dreams with childhood fearlessness. If money was not a consideration, what would you spend your time doing?

#2 – Making an Impact: In the words of Saint Francis of Assisi, “It is in giving that we receive.” Being charitable in our monetary donations and in our time to those that are less fortunate than us is the most significant way to help one another. Let this be the year that we extend ourselves and help others in ways we haven’t previously.

#1 – Loving Our Family: Family First! Two simple words that mean so much. We all want to make sure that our families are cared for in every way possible. We all have our reason for what we do, and my three ladies are my reason for doing what I do! Thank you Gina, Brianna and Kaitlyn for giving me the fuel to pursue my passion in helping entrepreneurs reach their full potential!

We’d love to hear from you: What lights you up? What are you going to make happen this year?
